Thomas was divorced from Brittania Robinson in Dorchester Co., MD, January 15, 1808. Britiana Marshall of Dorchester County, marriage to Thomas Marshall annulled and divorced. Children not to be illegitimated. Lib. TH#1, fol. 33 January 15, 1808 (30-1807) (notes of Sue Hurley-Divorces and Names Changed in Maryland by Act of the Legislature 1763-1867) Dorchester Land Records 19HD 179 & 185 1802 show Thomas Marshall, deceased. His father was John Marshall, deceased, and John's wife was Frances, now wife of John Stevens, Esq. Thomas' grandfather is shown as Thomas John Marshall, deceased, and Thomas' wife was named Brittania. (Dorcester County Maryland Genealogical Magazine, Vol. III, No. 3, Sept, 1983, p.19) This date does not match up with the divorce decree in 1808.
In 1800 census, Thomas Marshill has one female under age 10 in his household. (Vern Skinner)
In 1801, John Stevens, Esq. and his wife Frances deeded to her son Thomas Marshall their interest in "Carthegenia." (Dorchester Co. land records 19.185 researched by Vern Skinner)
In 1802, Thomas Marshall and his wife Brittania sold "Carthegenia" to William McDonald & James McDonald (Dorchester Co. land records 19.179); Thomas later registers a mortgage for the property.
